GOLF.

LADIES' MATCHES. On Wednesday last, the ladies of the Otaki Golf Club held a field day, when the "Takapu" Cup was duly handed over to the winners. There were a great many visiting players from Levin and Foxton, and these, with the local players, kept the links well filled. A medal round was played in the morning, and won by Miss Swainson, with 103 —25 —78. For this she received a trophy, presented by Mrs. J. D. Brown. The runner-up, Mrs. Roydhouse, of Levin, won. Mrs. Simeox's trophy, and Miss Swainson won Mrs. Simeox's other trophy, for the greatest number of fours shoAvn in the card. In the afternoon, foursomes were played over 14 holes, Miss Kerr and Mrs. Morton winning on a recount from Mrs. MeKenzie and Miss Wilson. Mrs. Simcox presented the trophies. After afternon tea, Mrs. Hunter presented the "Takapu" Cup to Mrs. Galloway, as Captain of the winning team, rind congratulated Otaki on being the first winners of the Cup. Mrs. Galloway replied on behalf of the Otaki Club, and three very lusty cheers were given for Mrs. Hunter, the donor of this beautiful trophy. Mrs. Austin *poke on behalf of the visitors, and thanked the Otaki ladies for the very pleasant day they had all enjoyed. On November 10th, a very much less formal, but no less enjoyable afternoon was spent in the club-house, when many of the club members, both men and women, met to make a presentation to Mrs J. D. Brown, as a mark of appreciation forr many kindnesses shown Ito different members. The presentation took the form of a picnic basket, which was considered' a most appropriate gift. Mrs Galloway and Mr Wills spoke for the members, and Mr J. IX Brown replied on behalf of his wife. To most members, this was the finale to golf for the 1935 season.
