The road-race conducted by the Levin Cycling Club on Wednesday, resulted as follows: J. Davis, 2hr 23min l-ssec 1 C. Batten, 2!ir 25min 2-f>sec 2 R. T. Gray, 2hr iMmin o-.lsec Ii Fastest times were recorded by: — C. B. Wilkinson, 2hr 7min ;Tsecs . . .1 G. A. Milroy 2hr 7inin 5 ;5-f>secs .... 2 The race was keenly contested throughout, and in a good finish Davis defeated Batten by two lengths, with Gray half a wheel away third. The scratch men appeared two minuteslater and in a thrilling finish Wilkinson outsprinted Milroy comfortably by two lengths, who was closely followed by George. This was Gray's first ride So far this season and he rode well, as also did Davis, and these two' riders will show to belter advantage over the longer journey in the Palinerstoii [North to Wellington race. Morgan rode a poor race; finishing a long way back. Batten is still riding very consistently and has a great chance of winning the points prize as he is now a close second to Milroy with one more race to ride. As previously reported G. Morgan won the Palinerstoii North to Wanganui road-race of 48 miles. Morgan and Batten set a very fast pace in this event and soon had the back markers in difficulties. Riding strongly Morgan, still held the lead on the Wangaehu hill and in a great finish he drew away to win easily by four lengths. Morgan has to thank Batten for his victory, as this young rider rode magnificently for most of the journey, until his condition gave out, but up to this stage he teamed well with Morgan and was very unlucky not to be placed. The following members of the Levin Cycling Club will be contesting the Palmerston North to Wellington roadrace on September 28th: —R. Flutey, T. Grey, G. Morgan, G. Milroy, T. George, J. Davis, and H. Graham. The final road-race of the season will bo decided next Wednesday afternoon and a good race is anticipated. OTAKI CYCLE CLUB. OTAKI—MANAKATJ—TE HORO.
