Dieting is Dangerous
OBESITY AND COCKTAILS (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Wednesday, Midnight MELBOURNE, Sept. 11. Popular theories were upset at a meeting of the special medicine section of the British Medical Association Congress to-day, when some of the world's most eminent medical men decreed that obesity was not due to overeating. Dieting was dangerous in many cases of obesity and exercise was an over-rated element in treatment. Lord Horder presided and Professor C. G. Lambie, of Sydney, said the beneficial effect on reducing weight by one game of squash racquets would be counteracted by a pint of beer or two cocktails.
