POWER BOARDS' CONFERENCE OPENED.
COMMENT ON GROWTH OF INDUSTRY. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WEIiLLNGTON, This Day. The Electric Power Boards' Conference <vra,» opened to-day by Hon. G. A. Forbes, who commented on the growth •of the electrical industry, stating that capital'Unvested was .partly Government and: partly local bodies. Working expenses totalled £2,047,641; total annual cost, £4,123,989; retail revenue was £4, 577,999, and profit fcr the year £454,010. He did not think anybody could complain that this was excessive and was sure that if tho industry had been in the hands of a private undertaking a larger profit would have been expected. The •output from the Government stations had increased by 6 per cent, during the year. He regretted there had been a certain amount of dissention between town and country, hut felt confident this wouldi Ibe overcome.
