Suddenly changing its attitude, the Administration to-day appeared to_ be taking an active interest in the ItalianEthiopian crisis and prepared to exercise its influence ..to preserve peace. When Ambassador ROsso called at the State Department to discuss routine matters, prior to a brief visit to Italy, Mr Cordell Hull (Secretary for State) took occasion to inform him of America's misgivings regarding the situation and urged him to try to settle "the dispute through the League of Nations. .Later Mr Hull called on M. de la Boulaye and Sir Ronald Lindsay at separate conferences, with a request for information regarding Press reports that their Governments were preparing a tri-party conference with Italy,-but both declared they were without information. . In some is taken as an indication that \ the Government might participate in suck a conference, * if Jnvited, and in any event is preparld to give moral support to any peace moves.
