TE HORO.
Mrs. Walker presided over a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the To Horo Women's Institute, held on Thursday (June 27th). A bring-and-buy stall, in aid of the endowment fund, was well supported and the sum attained was very satisfactory. The competition for the best shortbread was won by Mrs. Empson, with Mrs. Terry second. The knitting competition was won by Mrs. Walker, with Miss Morton second, and a wall competition on Wellington shops resulted in a tie for four members. On drawing lots Mrs. Lumsden was declared the winner. The competitions for next month' are fancy knitting and a limerick. A song by Mrs. Feilding was much enjoyed. The dance held on the following Saturday night was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The winners of the euchre tournament were Mrs. Cliff Gawler and Mr. Swensson, while Miss P. Lawrence and Mr. Empson carried off the second prizes.
