In the men's singles (second round) Denker defeated Merlin 6—3, 6—2, 7^-5. In the women's doubles semi-finals Misses Seriven and Stammers beat • Madame Henrotin and Mrs. Andrus '■ 14—32, 6—4; Mile. Adamoff and Mrs. '■ Sperling beat Misses Yorks and Hard- '• wick 6—l 6—3. ] McGrath and Turnbull combined ex- ■ cellently. They concentrated on Tuckey '■ who frequently broke down on his vol- • leys.
