MUNICIPAL ELECTRICITY SUPPLY AUTHORITIES.

FIRST CONFERENCE HELD

WELLINGTON, Last Night

Sixty delegates from all parts of the Dominion met at the first conference of the New Zealand Municipal Electric. Power Supply Association to-day. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), who presided, said the association was not formed in any spirit of antagonism to the existing association, Avhieh comprised both power boards and municipalities. The association was merely formed to protect the rights and privileges of municipal councils, and he added that, out of 39 municipalities supplying power, 37 had joined. Rules and a constitution were adopted and the following officers wore elected: President, Mr. Hislop; viecnpresidonts, Messrs. -J. Miller (Mayor of Invercargill) and O. Morse (Mayor of Napier). The executive council is to consist' of delegates from Hamilton, Lyttelton, Stratford, Wairna, Christchurch and Palmerston North. The appointment of a secretary and an advisory engineer was loft to the executive.

A two-dav conference of the Supply Authority Engineers’ Association concluded to-day, when further tecdinicai papers wore delivered by several members.

A number of remits to the joint, conference of power supply authentic*.' to be held to-morrow, were approved.

The election of officers resulted: President, Mr .T. G. Lancaster (Welling ton); first vice-president, Mr L. B, Hutton (Southland); second vice-presi-dent, Mr W. A. Waters (ManawatuOroua); executive, .Messrs J. Aimer (Waitahi), K. Hitchcock (Christchurch), H. G. Kemp (Ashburton), G Lauchlan, E. ,S. Maunder and H. F. Toogood (Wellington).
