Nunneley Casket Tennis at Wellington

CITY TEAM LEADING BY FOUR MATCHES TO TWO WELLINGTON, Last Night. At the end of the first day’s play at Miramar ’ to-day in the Nunneley Casket competition between teams of women tennis players representing Wellington and the combined Wanga-nui-Taranaki-Manawatu districts, Wellington led by four games to two. The combined team won two singles of the four singles and two doubles played. A strong and gusty northerly wind was blowing diagonally across the court and made any sustained exhibition of good tennis quite impossible.
