Steamers Collide in Fog
SEVEN LIVES LOST British Official Wireless RUGBY, Dec. 21. ' As the result of - a collision in thick fog off gprun Head between the Swedish steamer astor and the Hull trawler Kurd* the Castor, a vessel of 569 tons, sank almost immediately, and the stewardess and six male members of the crew were drowned. The Kurd reached Hull to-day carrying seven survivors. - - Survivors’ Story LONDON, Dee, 21. The captain and six others, rescued by the Kurd, on arrival at Hull, said that the Castor was struck in the bows filled rapidly, and sank immediately, before they .were abe to rouse the sleep■ers. Survivors were left floundering ;in icy-cold water and despaired of 'rescue as the trawler drifted away in the feg. Eventually they were saved "by ropes and boathooks. Heavy fog in' tjya Channel is delaying many ships.
