Tt is revealed that Miss' Britain 111., -which has been secretly built at Hythe for the purpose of challenging Miss .America X. for the British International Trophy, touched a speed of mearly 110 miles per hour, the fastest “-speed ever achieved on salt water. She was using only a 900 horse-power engine, instead of the 1375 h.p. for which, she was designed. Miss Britain 111. is the smallest boat ever entered for the trophy, being only 24ft. 6in. long and of Bft. beam. Scientists who were watching the tost describe the boat as being faster than anything in transport except a catapulted aeroplane. Her new features include an all-metal in which 8600 rivets have been used, and .steering by a forward rudder.
