Johnsonville Sale

Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Johnsonville sale, held on Tuesday, as follows: — There was a very large attendance of buyers to whom we submitted a full yarding of all classes of stock. The beef comprised heavy-weight bullocks, with a few pens of lighter sorts, together with prime cows and heifers and the usual offering of vealers. There was a good dema«id at auction for all classes of cattle, prices showing no alteration on late rates. The sheep yarding was of good quality and competition was keen at prices showing an all-round advance, wethers firming to the extent of Is per •head and ewes up to 2s per head. Lambs were in shorter supply than usual and met with a fair sale. We quote:—

Prime extra heavy wethers, 19s 6d, 19s 3d, 19s Id; prime heavy wethers, 18s lOd, 18s 6d; medium wethers, 17s Bd, 17s 6d; prime heavy ewes, 17s, 16s 30d, 16s 6d, 15s 9d, 15s 6d; medium unfinished ewes, 14s 4d, 14s 3d, 14s; heavy hoggets, 16s 2d, 15s 6d; light hoggets, 14s 2d, 14s; heavy lambs, 15s 6d, 15s Id, 34s 7d; lambs, 13s 4d.
