RELIEF STRIKE PICKETS IN CUSTODY. ARRESTED IN THEIR HOMES. (By Telegraph—Press WELLINGTON, Friday. Four men who have been taking a prominent part in the relief workers’ strike were arrested in their homos last night and charged before Mr Page, S.M., to-day with unlawfully besetting a place where relief workers were engaged with a view to compelling them to abstain from doing acts which they had a legal right to do. The accused refused to enter pleas. They were: Charles Norris Brooks (37), •Richard fllcnry Webb (25), Charles Frederick Barker (49), John Harvey Blair (37). Blair said he thought at was farcical to plead, and Webb that he "refused to recognise the Court. The police, in asking for a remand, said the accused were at the head of a group of about 350 men which visited the relief jobs endeavouring to get the workers to leave their work. In order to avoid trouble the men had been taken off their jobs when the group was seen appearing. Substantial bail was suggested, but Counsel (fior vice used intimated that bail was not asked for and a remand was not opposed. The men were remanded till Tuesday.
