PERSONAL.
The death is announced in a Press message received from Dunedin to-day, of Mr James Brown, aged 75, a public accountant, who was one of the best known figures in New Zealand friendly societies, and who was also an exPresident of the New Zealand Commercial Travellers’ Association. The deceased was born in Dunedin, and he entered commercial life in 1878, becoming a public accountant in 1890. He was on the directorate of a number of companies, of some of which he was chairman. Among presidencies which he held in the past were those of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants, the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and the Students’ Society, to which last he was also lecturer. The late Mr Brown published various articles on accountancy subjects.
