BADMINTON.
LEVIN CLUB’S YANKEE TOURNAMENT. PROVED VERY SUCCESSFUL. Last week the'Levin. Badminton Club held a combined doubles handicap Yankee tournament which proved verysuccessful. Some 60 odd players took ‘ 'part, which included members from the Regent and Koputaroa Clubs. Both ■evenings (Tuesday* [and [Wednesday) on which the sections were played, produced, some very interesting and keenly-contested matches, in which several of the games were very close, reflecting great credit on the handicappers, Avho had done their work with thoroughness. The tournament was under the supervision of the club’s secretary, Mr S. Worsfold, and for the undoubted success of it full credit must be given to this official. On Thursday evening the section winners played off, and the winners proved to be Miss A. Shaw and G. Dunn. Following are the section winners and the semi-finals and final, handicaps being given in parenthesis: Section A.—Miss A. Shaw and G. Dunn (minus 12). Section B.—Miss IST. Twisleton and M. Worsfold (minus 4). Seetion C.—Miss E. York and H. G. Mackay (plus 4), Section D.—Mrs G. France and W. Donnelly (scr.). Section E. —Mies B. Gibson and A. R. Cramond (plus 6). Section F.—Miss 11. Stilwell and F. Graham (plus 12). Section G.—Miss C. Frechtling and G. France (scr.). Section H. —Miss D. Parsons and B. Harvey (plus 12). The following are the results of the matches played on Ijhursday evening by the section winners: FIRST-QUARTER FINAL. Miss A. Shaw and G. Dunn beat Miss N. Twisleton and M. Worsfold 33—21; Miss C. Frechtling and G. France beat Miss E. York and H. G. Mackay 21—16; Miss U. Stilwell and F. Graham beat Miss B. Gibson and A. R. Cramond 21—15; Miss D. Parsons and B. Harvey beat Mrs G. France and W.
