Power Board Amalgamation
FARMERS WANT REDUCTION IN COSTS. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Several remits were put forward at the meeting of the Dominion Executive of the Farmers' Union to-day urging support for rural power boards in their endeavour to obtain a reduction in the bulk supply of electricity so that charges for power in the country districts could be brought into line with the city charges. A resolution was carried asking the executive to press for the immediate establishment of a local bodies commission and that the question of regrouping power board districts and power board finance be made one of urgency by the commission.
the London Treaty, the Japanese Navy staff contemplate two cruisers of 8500 tons, two 'plane carriers of 10,000 tons, fourteen destroyers of 1400 tons, six submarines, a mine layer and eight torpedo boats, besides eight new flying units. The naval authorities are reported to have pledged themselves to oppose tooth and nail a reduction in the Estimates, considering them to be the absolute minimum in national defence.
