Late Sir Thomas Sidey

GOVERNOR-GENERAL ’ S TRIBUTE. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A tribute to the late Sir Thomas Sidey was paid by the Governor-General at the jubilee reception of the Auckland University College. “I should like to refer briefly to the serious loss the cause of education in this Dominion has suffered,” said his Excellency, “in the passing of Sir Thomas Sidey, Chancellor of the University of Otago. New Zealand has lost a zealous and most generous educationist, and its public life has lost a senator of ripe experience, unblemished character and great zeal for the public welfare. I am sure it is your wish that there should be conveyed from this gathering an expression of sympathy with Lady Sidey and the members of her family. ”
