BOWLING SEASON CLOSES.
THE OTAKI CLUB. The Otaki Bowling Club, which has had a most successful season closed its green on Wednesday when there was a splendid attendance, including jdayers from Levin, Manakau, and Paraparaumu. There were also a number of visiting croquet players present and all spent a most enjoyable time. The weather was fine, and the greens keen, therefore some first-class play was witnessed.
At the afternoon tea adjournment Mr. H. Nicolson, President of the Club, extended a welcome to the visitors and thanked them for the hearty support accorded the Club, during the season. He also expressed thanks to members of the Otaki Chib for their loyalty and for their help in making the season one of the best on record. Thanks to Mr, Pike, the greenkeeper, members had had a splendid green right throughout the season, and to this ■ official much credit was due. Thanks were also extended to the secretary of the Club (Mr. Nilsson) and also to the secretary of the Croquet Chib (Mrs. Bills). Both had worked splendidly. Cheers were then accorded the visitors. Mr. .Petherick, President of tho Paraparaumu Club, in replying, thanked the Otaki Club for its great hospitality, which was exceptional, and which had been appreciated by all Clubs that had paid a visit to Otaki. On behalf of those from a distance Mr. Petherick wished the Club continued success, and stated that the day had proved a very enjoyable one. Tribute was also paid to the ladies who had provided afternoon tea. (Cheers for the-Otaki Club followed). Later in the day Mr. Nicolson presented trophies won by members during the season, and in doing so compli mented each one on the success achieved. The season, he said, had been a good one, and to all members, and
especially Mrs. Bills, the secretary, much credit was duo. Mr. Nicolson trusted that all would spend a verypleasant day and that next season more frequent visits would bo made. (Cheers followed). A presentation was made to Mrs. Bills for her splendid work as secretary and all joined in “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Members of the club also made a presentation to Air. Pike, greeukceper, and further applause followed. During the day a rink tournament was held, an Otaki quartette, Nilsson, Beauchamp, Bailey, Windley (s) proving the winners, winning all three games. , Only eight heads were played: Following arc results of games: — Allen, ' Carter, Cameron, Walker, s (Levin) v.
