OPENING MEETING TO-DAY Received Friday, 9.50 p.m. BRISBANE, May 19. The long-awaited opening of the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club’s new racecourse at Doomben occurs to-day. It is regarded as the most picturesque course in Australia. There arc, three stands, with the most modern appointments. People will be able from the stands to obtain a continuous clear view of the straight. The main event of the programme is described as the Doomben Newmarket, in which 19 horses from all the Eastern States are engaged, including Closing Time and Lady Linden. The latter was the winner of the 1932 Victoria Newmarket.
