CHINA WILL TAKE 400,000 BALES OF WOOL.

AUSTRALIA EXPECTS THE ORDER SYDNEY, Sept. 1. If plans work out at the coming Nanking Chinese Conference Australia may look forward to a Chinese order for 400,000 bales of wool next year. The Chinese Government has decided to buy wool direct from Australia instead of buying it through Japan. When Mr D. Y. Narme, a well-known Chinese merchant, sailed for Nanking last week he kept to himself the plans he will submit to the conference for an extension of 'China-Australia trade. The most important item made known yesterday through Mr G. Burleigh relates to wool purchase. “Woollen factories are bein'g erected, in China, and the Government is still negotiating with America for machinery to build more factories,” pointed out Mr Burleigh, director of trade) intelligence. , He will sail for China next month also as a delegate. Mr Percy Lee, Sydney merchant, yesterday received a letter from the Premier (Mr Stevens), congratulating him and those in the campaign to promote greater trade. / “Until quite recently,” the Premier’s letter added, “trade between the two countries was stagnant, but an examination shows that there is already a revival. “My Government is co-operating with the Federal Government and the (commercial organisations.” From wool, canned fruit, railway sleepers, and many other samples to be shipped next month the Chinese Government will be able to determine the full quality of Australian products. “The conference will be another Ottawa for Australia,” said Mr Narme.
