OTAKI BOWLING CLUB.

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Committee of the Otaki Bowling Club was held at the Jubilee room on Thursday, Mr L. G. Lowry (President) presiding. There were also present Messrs Witchell (secretary), Twist, Whyte, Walshe, Beauchamp, Noble, Nicolson, Rule, and (Bailey. Correspondence was read from Mr. T. O ’Rourke, resigning as a member of the Club.—The resignation was received with great regret, all members .speaking eulogistically of Air. O’Rourke, who all regarded as a valued member and a first-class player. It was stated that besides being a good member he was also the first President that the Club had had, and it was unanimously agreed that the Club was losing one of its best members. A "letter was read from Mr. H. J. Palmer, now in Australia, stating that he had followed the doings of the Club with great interest. He had joined up with a club in Australia but had not played much. The greens, he stated, were rougher than those In New Zealand and, naturally, not so fast. They, however, could play all the year round and the green was faster in winter than during the summer months. In conclusion he sent his best wishes to all.

The balanco:shcet and report were rend and considered very satisfactory. It was stated that it was likely that a cup would bo given for competition among the clubs in the district. It was reported that the Paraparaumu green was well under way while it was hoped that the work on the Packakariki green would be pushed on. Reference was also made to the progress made by the Alanakau Club. ° praise was bestowed on the green superintendent for his fine services during the year, and it was recognised that bowlers had received good value for money spent. It was regretted that there were a number of unfinancial members but as notices had been sent to all it was expected that the majority would pay before the annual meeting. The date of the annual meeting was fixed for Alonday, 20th inst.
