PARAPARAUMU POSTMASTER FAREWELLED.

RETURNED SOLDIERS’ CLUB. Members of the Paraparaumu Returned Soldiers’ Club met in the “Dug Out” on Saturday evening to bid farewell to Mr. L. Norris, who for the past four years has been in chaigc of the local Post Office, and an active member of the dub. The President (Colonel A. Pctherick) occupied the chair. The secretary reported that the Poppy Day effort netted £9 10s; tins amount was slightlv less than that or last year. Mr. J. Tilling was re-elected as representative of the club to tic Wellington R.S.A. . A vote of thanks was accordcc Messrs E. B. Hand and S. Batten for installing and operating the broadcasting of the Wellington Anzac service at the Domain. . On behalf of the Club the President asked Mr. Norris to accept a goldmounted fountain pen us a .^ n 0 its esteem and appreciation y? his scrvices to the club. In reply Mr. Norris thanked the members, and expresser his regret in severing a connec ion which had always been a most happj one, and his confidence that the club would continue to carry on its work on behalf of the ex-service men. _ The evening was a most cn;joj a c one, several members contributing items, including songs, by Messrs McGuinncss, Sweetman, Snell and Detahunty.
