World’s Greatest Airship Damaged

A mishap damaged the giant naval dirigible Akron seriously to-day as a Congressional sub-committcc prepared for a test, flight, which the airship’s skipper hoped would vindicate her airworthiness. Throe Navy men suffered bruises and shock. The craft, the largest in the Navy, lurched in a freshening northerly wind and a mooring cable broke, lashing the stern and smashing the vertical fin, which was •ruined. The lashing cables struck the fabric of the hull with terrific force, leaving great tears and welts on its |side.
