A USEFUL TIP.

Most corsets ,can be successfully .cleaned with soap and water, if care is used. When there are lacings, these should be removed the first thing. The corset should next be soaked in water in a basin, large enough to surround it without crowding it. The temperature of the water will depend upon the construction of the garment. A corset with much rubber inset will not endure a high degree of heat. Gores of rubber are made useless if the corset is plunged in really hot water, A s'afe rule is a tepid temperature and mild soapsuds. If the garters can be removed, so much the better. After the corset has soaked half an hour, lay it on a washboard in a good strong light and apply a brush to all the most spiled places, which usually lie along the edges. A clean small vegetable scrub brush or a stifi’bristled toothbrush (which is good because of its handle), is, either one, effectual for thorough yet light scrubbing, which will remove soil without injuring the fabric. After scrubbing, rinse thoroughly in cold water. If the garment is pink, dip it in a pink tint 1 to freshen it again. Then pin the corset at the top, 'in at least four places, to the clothesline, where it will dry quickly in a breeze. If there are perspiration stains the sun will usually bleach them out. The garment, with the exception of the elastic inserts can be ironed with a ; moderately warm iron, when half dry, or allowed to dry and then sprinkled 'before ironing. It will bring out the pattern of the fabric to iron it on the wrong side The better ironed it is, the longer the corset rehnains Ifresh. ■ But the secret of laundering a cor-' set to look like new, is not to 'allow it to become too soiled.
