RUGBY FOOTBALL.
OPENING OF SEASON. The football season in the Horowhenua district will be opened to-morrow, when the local attraction will be the senior contest between "Wanderers and Otaki, on the Park Domain. The other engagements in that grade will be at Shannon, where the senior team of that town will play Moutoa. With the entry into the junior ranks of a new Levin combination, yclept Athletic, there are ten clubs represented in the second grade and play will take place in northern and southern divisions, to-morrow’s matches being at Whitanui, Koputaroa, Manakau, Otaki and Paraparaunm. TEAMS FOE SATURDAY. The Athletic Junior team to play Otaki to-morrow will be selected from the following:—Bateman, Frew, Hogg, Denton, Drysdale, Galloway, Williams (3), Geary, Tapp, Falloon, Bignal, Taylor, O’Donnell, Hale, Briekland. Cars leave the Levin post office at 1.15 p.m. Wanderers v. Otaki Seniors at Levin Domain, 2.45 on Saturday:—H. Taylor; Tilley,- Patterson, J. Broughton; S. Graham, R. Broughton; J. Herini; Piki, Knox, Tatana, Black, Palmer, P. Stuart, Taylor, Tama Parata.
