LADIES’ MATCHES.

LEVIN v. TE HORO. Accompanied by their supporters the Levin ladies journeyed to Manakau and defeated the Te Horo ladies by 9 goals to nil. The local girls were on the attack practically throughout -the game, as the Levin goalie was not called upon once to clear her goal. Nevertheless Te Horo put up a stubborn fight against their more experienced players. The Levin players made a better showing this week, but they must learn to hit hard when in the circle and not pat the ball as the writer saw them doing. In their next match they will be up against a stiller proposition, but if they learn to hit with plenty of weight behind the ball, they will hold their own. The first half ended with Levin leading by 4 goals to nil and the final whistle sounded with the score: Levin 9, Te Horo 0. The scorers for Levin were: Miss J. Hobson 4, Miss Y. Henderson 2, Miss O’Donnell 2, Miss D. Parsons 1. Messrs C. Hook and K. Davis proved capable referees.

OHAU v. MANAKAU.

That formidable team, Ohau, met and defeated Manakau on the Ohau grounds by five goals to one. The game was very exciting, but the combination of the Ohau team was too superior to that of the opposing team and they emerged victors. These Ohau girls know how to use their sticks and shoot hard when in the circle. Mr A. Hume refereed in an efficient manner.
