LEVIN BRANCH. The first meeting of the Levin branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union after the recess was held on Friday, February 13th, in the Salvation Army schoolroom, and presided over by Mrs Cummins. A dainty afternoon tea was served, after which the meeting opened with a hymn. The President read Psalm 46, and gave a very helpful and inspiring address. After the prayer, the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The correspondence was then read by Mrs Meyers. A representative was wanted for the district meeting to be held in Palmerston on February 16th, also a delegate for the Convention to be held at Nelson in March. Mrs Cummins represented the branch at Palmerston, but it was unable to send a delegate to Nelson. It was resolved on the motion of Mrs Gibson, seconded by Mrs Meyers, that Mrs Kennerley’s mother be asked to bring back a report from the Convention, A very pleasing report was given by Mrs Nye, Cradle Roll Superintendent, 17 babies being placed on the Roll. It was decided to hold, at the next meeting on March 13th, an afternoon for mothers and babies, in the grounds of the Presbyterian Church if fine, or in the Schoolroom if wet. The meeting closed with the reading of the Pledge, and the Benediction.
