FAVOURABLE DAIRYING SEASON.

PEAK OF PRODUCTION BEING MAINTAINED. PAY-OUT OF 1/5 FOR NEVEMBER. A pay-out of Is 5d per lb. for butterfat supplied to the Levin Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., during November, was decided on at a meeting of the directors yesterday. This is at the same rate as the pay-out for November, 1928. The peak of production, which was reached about the middle of last month, is being maintained at six and a-half tons a day, and the total quantity of butter manufactured from the beginning of the season, on -June Ist,* to November 30th showed an increase of 2.7 per cent, over the amount turned out in the corresponding season of last year, being 630 tons as compared with 613 tons. Last season the peak of production, which was reached at about the same time as this year, was six tons (240 boxes). The butter-fat production last month showed an increase of 7.6 per cent, as compared with the same month of last year. The growth of grass received a cheek during the dry fortnight in the latter part of November, but the rains that have fallen since have revived the pastures, and it is expected that the present satisfactory milk yield will continue well into the summer. Altogether the present prospects are for a good season.
