AMERICAN SAILOR CAUGHT IN HOTEL BEDROOM.
(By Telegraph— Trevu Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A young fireman on the Malolo named O'Reilly, was charged at the police court with having stolen £23 from Ernest Shine. The latter was staying at a city hotel during Sunday night and woke to find O'Reilly at the foot of his bed and later discovered that £23 of £3O in notes had been stolen from his trousers pocket. A detective accompanied Shine to the Malolo, where three crumpled notes' were found beneath O'Reilly's bunk. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded accused to 3 p.m. and said failing the return of the missing money, he would be sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
