DE LUXE THEATRE.

TWO FEATURES TO-NIGHT. A clever story, an excellent cast, and Colleen’s bubbling personality have been woven into a picture that ranks among the most humorously entertaining films to be seen in months. “Synthetic Sin” is a triple triumph for saucy Colleen as the star, William A. Seiter as the director, and Frederic and Fanny Hatton, authors of the play from which the picture was taken. For the first time in several years, Colleen Moore and Antonio Moreno are to be seen in the same picture. “Synthetic Sin’’ which will be repeated at the De Luxe to-night is the occasion of a rc-union of these popular players, their last screen appearance in the same cast having been in “Look Your Best,” one of Rupert Hughes’ stories. Moreno heads Miss Moore’s supporting cast in the character of a playwright, and participates in humorously exciting adventures that climax in a desperate gang war that is cleverly .combined with a laughable situation. An additional feature is “The Night Flyer,” a thrilling railway drama featuring William Boyd and Jobyna Ralston. It is unnecessary to assure patrons of a genuine thrill and excellent entertainment in a William Boyd feature. All the thrills and excitement centered around railways generally are embodied in “The Night Flyer” and in this production Boyd experienced the greatest thrill in his life. As the train sped onward the cabin broke .loose and whipped by the terrific winds, threatened to crash Boyd to death. No help could be given as the throttles were blocked by the loose cab top. Boyd called on the fireman for aid and the two of them managed to hurl the cab roof from the engine. During the filming of this unrehearsed and unexpected scene, the train was travelling over forty miles an hour. Usual prices arc being charged and seats may be reserved at Stannard’s. AN IMMORTAL STORY. Faithfully and with the labour of lovq, Universal has - translated into films each of the salient features of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s immortal novel and in a massive production whose proportions have never before been equalled, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.’' for the first time will be shown on Thursday next at the De Luxe Theatre, commencing with a special matinee at 11 pm. and showing again at 8 p.m. and also on Friday ac 8 p.m.

What homely sympathetic recollections the mere mention of “Uncle 'loin’s Cabin’’ brings to mind; Little Eva, symbol of purity and love, her tragic death and her rise to heaven in the arms of the shining angel; Topsy mischievous inky imp, who “jcs’growc '..” and who had no respeet for the property rights of others. The coarse, brutal Simon l.egree and his ovor-pres-e- : bullwhip; sweet Eliza and her harrowing experiences in the inimort il crossing-the ice scene; heroic George I! u ris, the gallant hero and husband of K i/.a.

i here i» pious Uncle Tom, who although n black man, ‘‘had a white hi art"; the shifty Marks, of "My n..me-is-Marks. I’m a-lawyer" fame and the hundred and one other familiar characters.

Who is there who did not thrill at tie* chilling baying of the hounds as t, . y tugged at the leashes in the hands of ilaley, Lokor, Harris and their black henchmen?

Where is the eye that did not fill w'th tears at the harrowing experiences of poor Tom and Eliza and Gas* ie And how the laughter roared out at the comicalities of Topsy, the maiden antics of Aunt Ophelia and the frequent discomfiture of Marks?
