LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ FINAL. Otaki juniors again demonstrated championship form on Saturday when they beat Shannon on the Otaki ground to the tune of forty-live to nil. The game, itself was not a good one from the spectators’ point of view, but some very good individual play was seen. The wind, which blew across the ground, caused the ball to behave in an erratic manner and badly fooled both sides at times. For the first twenty minutes of the first half play was very ragged. Mishandling of the ball spoiled many movements. . J. McLeavey. who played a rattling game throughout, worked the blind side and sent the hall to H. Durham, who evaded a tackle and scored in the corner. The kick missed. Shannon attacked hotly from the kick off and despite the weak tackling of the locals, they failed to penetrate. Otaki had now. found their feet and “ rattled ” up a' total of seventeen points before half time. Shannon made some very determined efforts to score but McLeavey marked when they were in a good position to go over. J. Bevan then scored in a good position but the kick missed.
