'.Mr R. G. Simmers, the New Zealand meteorologist, is sailing to-day on the naval survey ship Kellott, to test the pilot-balloon theodolite, which will be used in the Antarctic aboard the Discovery. The apparatus is for measuring the strength and direction of the upper air currents. He returns on September 12th, and goes to Capetown on September 20th to join the Discover y.
