DESPERATE STRUGGLE BETWEEN WOULD-BE SUICIDE AND TWO TRAMWAYMEN.

A life-and-death struggle <was staged on the brink of the (iap last night. Two tramway in en noticed a man walking towards the cliffs, and followed Sim. The- man, who was over six feet in height and weighed about 13 stone, •discarded his coat, ..'leapt the fence, and made for the edge. The tramwaymen sprang after him, and a desperate struggle ensued, the 'three men someiimes being only a few- feet from the "brink. However, later the man broke down and sobbed. He admitted that he had intended to commit suicide, saying "My wife is to blame." He was .about 48 years old, well dressed, and ?iis cultured voice bespoke a good education. He wa3 handed over to the police.
