“IN ACTION FAITHFUL: IN HONOUR CLEAR.”
ERAMWELL BOOTH LAID TO REST CROWDED STREETS PAY HOMAGE (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Australian Press Assn, and Sun.) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, June 24. Through densely-lined streets from which the traffic was diverted, General Bramwcll Booth’s funeral procession, a mile and a-half long, marched to Abbey Park Cemetery from International headquarters. The band played the General’s favourite hymn tunes and banners decorated with white ribbons were carried.
General Booth’s chauffeur, Adjutant Pritchard, drove the funeral car, which carried the late General on many campaigns. Thi shroud was inscribed in white letters: “In action faithful; in honour clear.”
Refusing to ride, Mrs Booth followed the bier afoot accompanied by other relatives. General Higgins, Commissioner Mapp, and the leading Commissioners followed. An immense crowd assembled in the cemetery, where the service was conducted by Catherine Booth.

The late General Booth was laid to rest in a grave lined with white and pink sweet peas, beside his parents. A concourse of ten thousand Salvationists fervidly sang typical Army hymns. A son, Lieut. Bernard Booth, gave the final salute.
