BREMNER’S RINK WINS TWO SEMI-FINAL GAMES

WELLINGTON, Last Night

In the Dominion Bowling Association's champion singles final, Archie 1, Coltman (Carlton) defeated Do faunay (Epsom). The semi-final games in the champion rinks saw Breraner (West End) defeat J both McWhannell (Hataitai) and Doherty (Kelburn). As the latter was unbeaten, he had two lives and so had 1 to bo beaten twice.

Results of to-day’s play were:— Champion Rinks. Semi-finals —West End: Hardley, * Nelham, Clark, Bnuner (s) defeated Hataitai: Josephson, Carswell, Sellings, McWhannell (s) 25—16. Bromnor scored V points on the first two heads and his score was never beaded or equalled during the game. The nine point win about represented the difference in the rinks. Bremner got his break on McWhannell when from the fourth to the ninth round (inclusive) the latter was not permit- . ted to score.

West End; Hardicy, Nelham, Clark, Brcmner (s) defeated Kclburn: Peterio, Howarth, Routloy, Doherty (s) 23 —9.

The Kclburn rink was off its game and never for a moment displayed championship form, nor was the issue in doubt. The score fairly represented the difference in the quality of tjhe bowls played. Champion Singles.

It was purely an exhibition game of . drawing the shot on a slippery green, when every fraction of an ounce In weight counts for feet of running. Coltman, on the day, outdrew his man though really there was not so much betwee n them perhaps as the score j would seem to denote.

Coltman won the game by 20 point to *l2. Up to the ninth-head, the going was , even. The tw'cnty-first head was 41 not played. The semi-finalists in the champion pairs are Edwards (Tcrauka), Me- ** Whanncll (Hataitni), Doherty (Kel* burn) and Lawrence (Linwood).

Queensland Visitors Are Delighted’ With Westport ‘ ‘ BILLIARD TABLE GREEN. ’' WESTPORT, Last Night. The Queensland bowling party arrived from Recfton at mid-day and this aftornon played a two-rink match with Westport, Blaxall (Westport) winning from MacMillan (Queensland), 23—15, and Struthers (Westport) winning frqjsa Curran (Queensland), 20—18. Westport won on the total by 43 to 33. The weather, though threatening, kept fine. The visitors were impressed with the green. Curran remarked: ‘‘l have played on almost every green in Australia, but never before on a green like this. It is a freak green—a bib Hard table.' ’ The visitors were sd v delighted with the play that they asked their hosts to cut out the social arranged for the evening so that they might get back on to the green, where they remained playing until reluctantly forced through the darkness to desist. The visitors, 17 strong, including ladies, wore accorded an official Welcome by Mr. Arthur Merely, president of the Westport Bowling Club, anil a civic reception by the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Ilarkncss. The visitors leave for Nelson to-morrow morning, leaving there in the morning by steamer for Wellington to undertake a North Inland tour.
