HAWKE CUP MATCH.

WILSON MAKES SECOND CENTURY WANGANUI, Last Night. The Hawke Clip elimination cricket match between Taranaki and Wangar.ui was continued this afternoon, heavy mil e:i:\'v this morning and showers Inter causing a postponement of play, until 2 p.m. The wicket was sodden and slippery and the outfield slow but though later in the afternoon it tended to become sticky. The Taranaki batsmen made a brilliant stand against the bowling on Saturday but on resumption, Wilson 91 not out, and Lay 105 not out, were rather slow in, starting. Finally, Wilson reached #n"e century, his second for match. When at 110, he was clean bowled by Bernau. Lay added three to his score, making 108 before he was run out. The partnership added over 200. The remaining batsmen did not last long, Brown 17, being the only double figure figure scorers. Eequiring 149 rumst win, Wanganui commenced with 100'minutes to go and when stumps were down, six wickets down for 86. The match will be resumed at 10.30 to-morrow morning, Wanganui requiring 64 runs to win. HAWKE CUP CRICKET. WANGANUI WINS ELIMINATION MATCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. The first challenge match for the Hawke Cup will start to-morrow on the Sportsground, when Eangitikei will endeavour to wrest the trophy from Manawatu. A good game is anticipated, and lovers of Britain's national pastime will see some promising youngsters in action as well as old favourites.
