BOXING REVIVAL IN LEVIN.
MOVEMENT HEARTILY TAKEN UP*,' . AMATEUR TOURNAMENT WITHIN SIX WEEKS. . « The resuscitation of the - boxing movement in Levin; was- shown to be amply justified by the large attendance, at the meeting, of - the newly formed association held at Mr C. H. Bould S rooms last evening, 27 being present and much enthusiasm being shown. Mr Bould was in the chair. . It was reported that the use of the hall behind, the Levin Hotel , had been, secured for practices, which will beheld on Tuesday ~ and Thursday evenings. A subscription of lOh was fixed for members and. a fee. of sixpence a night for casual trainees. It was also decided to approach Mr R. J. Eoss, headmaster of the Levin District High School, with a proposal, that schoolboys should be, admitted to ■. at a' subscription- of .ss. It was resolved that a letter be sent to. Mr Evan Jones thanking him for the offer of the hall, and that: the com- - mittee inspect the Lull at, 8.30 p.m. on Monday. An invitation was extended, to the public to witness the .practices.. The meeting decided that an amateur tournament be held within' six weeks; also that the instructors (Messrs Owen' and Nuthall) endeavour to arrange a bout to be staged prior to the screening of the Tun ney-Heeney fight, on October Ist.
