CHARGES OP THEFT

(Ev Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.

Frederick Hunt Hardgrave (29), a carpenter by occupation, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to-day to the theft of a gold chain and locket value .£6, and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. Accused also stole money from the house which he entered by a window. Francis John Snow charged with the theft of a wireless set and accessories of the total value of £4(3 10s, and. with obtaining clothing, jewellery and goods to the value of £O2 4s 3d by means of valueless cheques, pleaded' guilty and was ordered to be detained in a Borstal institute for three years. Accused had been previously in Borstal for theft.

WELLINGTON, Last Night

When the case against Thomas Fieldon Taylor, clergyman and missioner, aged 49 years, of 172, Taranaki Street, adjourned last week, on a charge of indecent assault on another male, was called to-day before Mr E. Page, S.M., at 11 a.m., Mr A. Gray, K.C., who appeared in the accused’s behalf, said lie regretted that he had received information during the last few minutes that Mr Taylor had met with a serious accident. Dr. Brown had been called in at 10,30, when it was found that Mr Taylor;had fallen and broken his thigh. He had been sent to the Hospital, whei-e he was likely to remain fof three,/ months. He asked for a formal remand until the position was more definite.

Mr Macasscy suggested that the patient’s condition he ascertained after a fortnight. Mr Page agreed, and the remand was granted for a fortnight, further application,, if necessary, then to be made.

A report at midnight stated that the patient was in a serious condition. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON. This Day.

The Rev. T. Fielden Taylor, against- Whom a serious charge is laid, is still semi-conscious in hospital. His condition although it shows little improvement is still serious.
