SHARKS A SHILLING EACH.

FISHERMEN THROW THEM BACK. LONDON, Sept. 7. During the last mouth or two, many sharks have been caught at the fishing grounds off the west coast of Scotland. German fishing steamers have brought in most of these, but the crews, who have the sharks as a perquisite, have been disgusted when the fish realised only a shilling each and any coming up in the nets arc cast back into the sea.

In Germany high prices are paid for sharks, which a German ship’s cook compared to English roast beef. He is surprised that English people do not eat them.
