SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY.

An excellent practice Avas held in the Parish Hall last night, when there Avere nearly 60 performers present (practically every member). The choral Avork of the choir Avas capital and the members received congratulations from the visiting soloists on their fine achievement and their knoAvledge of the Avork.

The soloists Avere Mr and Mrs Garde Grimshaw (tenor and soprano), Mr J. D. BroAvn (baritone), and Mr F. Lemmon (bass). They Avere all in good form, and. considering the difficulty of Avorking in the solos Avith chorus, acquitted themselves admirably. The orchestra have made rapid strides in. the good practices they have put in. The- Shannon public are assured of a great treat in. this musical festival. In addition to the opeara, there is expected to be a special item of great interest from a soloist Avho has just secured Dominion-wide laurels. This will be announced later.

A bus is leaving Shannon at 7.0 p.m. on Monday night for the Levin Choral Society's concert, and those interested are asked to give their names to Mr A. H. Morgan. Owing to the lateness of the practice the chairman (Mr Morgan) was unable to notify to the Shannon Choral Society the following items of interest regarding the coming concert: —Supper and sociai arrangements after concert will be aa before; ladies to assist with the supper. Ladies asked to wear wkite or black dresses at the' concert, but white is preferred; gentlemen, dark suits arid wbite tie. Another rehearsal, will be held next Thursday, when Miss Bertha Deare, contralto (Feilding), will be present.
