The Mafia isef-ret society, after flourishing half a century, has been finally ■ exterminated. More than a thousand members of the Order were captured in their last strong!; old at Pal'enno and will shortly take trial. As no court is big enough to hold the accused a special temporary court is being erected. The most dangerous members of the Mafia are refugees in America. Those captured include the famous woman brigand Cagnaccia w r ho ruled the countryside around the Madcnie mountains with a rod of iron, even arranging marriages and levying taxes.
