CHILDREN'S FANCY DRESS BALL.

- BIG SUCCESS AT KOPLTAROA. One of the most enjoyable functions ever held in Koputaroa, was he' children’s fancy dress ball whicti took place in the public h.-iIJ last evening. There was a big attend- i ance of both adults and juveniles and the gay colouring of the vaiious > costumes made the scene reminiscent ( of carnival. I Mr J. H. Taylor and Mjs§ Andrew ! acted as judges and remarked after wards that where there were so { many exceptionally fine costumes I their task was a difficult one. Prizes \ were awarded as follow;—1st Girls ) Hazel .Allen (“Bluebird”); 2nd Girls, Little Marjory Kilsby, aged 2 (“Old English Lady). Ist Boys, John Beck (“Father Christmas”); 2nd Boys. Ronald Sinclair (“Pot of Ink")., Special prize, donated by Mr Frank Kilsby for most original costume, Dulcie Allan (“Milkmaid”.) Mr Sciascia acted as M.C. and a much appreciated programme ol music was supplied by the Kawiu Maori String Band. The chairman of the School Committee thanked everyone for their united support and said the Koputaroad School Committee were going, to create a precedent hy asking every householder who was interested in the welfare of the children to attend the monthly meetings and he hoped to be able to welcome a good number of them on these occasions.
