HURRICANE SWEEPS HOLLAND.
* DESOLATION IN ITS COURSE. _ MANY PEOPLE KILLED. (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m., THE HAGUE, Aug. U. The ’ East Netherlands were swept by a terrific thunderstorm causing Joss of life and much damage to property. Details a.ro meagre as tele graphic and telephonic communication is interrupted. Four were killed and a hundred injured in the village of Boirculo, where the typhoon lasted several minutes. The towers of both churches were blown down and not single house escaped. The village oi Neede was disc destroyed. Serious damage is reported from Didam, Doetichem, Ofdenzaal, Hengelo and all Eastern Gefflerland. During the hurricane an aeroplane crashed into the Catholic Asylum at Rurlo, killing throe people. Borculo, with five thousand inhabitants, two thousand of whom are now homeless, was apparently the storm centre. The burgomaster has asked for troops and foodstuffs. The Governor of Gelderland arrived at Borculo,afoot as all roads were impassable to vehicles on account of fallen trees. v The damage is estimated at over four million florins.
