Mr J. Bennie, the Wellington architect for the Municipal Buildings, was ,iu Levin yesterday inspecting the work. At' a meeting of the Resident Executive of the New Zealand Labour Party, Mr U. Semple was endorsed ns the Labour Party candidate for tire Otaki seat. Mrs Gordon Richardson, who has been in the Hobson Street Hospital during the last six weeks, has now returned home, much improved in health. , An’ Auckland telegram announces the death of Mr George Gutts, for many years starter to the Auckland Racing Club. He was in his 92nd year and was said to be the oldest surviving jockey in the Southern Hemisphere, having ridden his first race 81 years ago. Dr. G. S. Sharp, who has been resident in Otaki for the past 5J years, has secured Dr. Doctor's practice a' Featherston, and will take up residence in his new quarters at the end of this month. Dr. Milne (Tiniaru) has purchased Dr. Sharp’s practice at Otaki. Dr. Slater, of the Wellington Hospital, has also decided to commence practice in Otaki, and has purchased a residence there. A double presentation was , made yesterday morning at the local Post Office. Mr B. Tucaer, who is leaving for the Motu Office, was presented with several mementoes of his stay in Levin, including a set of hair brushes. Mr A. G. Griffin, who is proceeding to Wellington in order to take part in the “cut-over" to the automatic telephone system next week, was handed a. sot of brushes, serviette ring and cigarette-holder. Mr Griffin will subsequently be transferred on promotion to Napier as hxstailation line-foreman. These two officers carry with them the best wishes of the local staff.
