One hundred per cent fertility is a good record in hatching. This has been reached" in several lots of eggs from Mr B. Raskin's farm in Queen Street.

l/'cal poultrymen consider that the fixing of the price of wheat by the Government has hardened all other grains, and accounts for feed being dearer than it should be at, the presem tame.

*■ Mr G. Webb, of Kawiu Road, is hatching a large number of ducklings this season, and has already disposed of 500 so far.

Mr W. G. Sloman, of the Reynella poultry ranch, who has perhaps the most complete establisliraent in this coast, had added a bone mill to his plant, which supplies about half a cwt of green bone for his pens daily.

Considerable alterations have been made in the brooder house, which is now most complete and up-to-date. Heal, is supplied by a hotwater installation, and ample light and ventilation should reduce mortality to a minimum. Every possible device for successful chick raising has been called into use, and the ! ibour and thought expended should bring their own reward. Mr Sloman w putting down another 3009 eggs hat will give a hatch about Septem- , or 25, a very convenient date for anyone going in for young stock. A large i action of this lot has already been ntered, and those requiring chicks :.oiu first-class stock should book up . i once. Mr Sloman has departed ..■om the strictly intensive system in die laying pens to the semi-intensive, ho birds now having ample run. The t 'turn from the laying pens is over 4300 eggs per week, witli the output Increasing daily.- The proprietor is t i be congratulated on the up-to-date nature of his farm, and the success that is attending his efforts. The inquiry for day-old chicks and eggs is quite equal to last year, and good business is again expected by I cal breeders.
