(Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) Sydney, August 17. Mr .1. M. Power has been appointed President of the Australian Labour Parly iu succession to Mr Lambert, who has resigned in consequence of being nominated for the West Sydney by-election.
Mr Storey’s financial mission resulted in £19,500,000 being raised for public works and land resumption. The terms are for thirty years at 5J iter cent, spread over 1921-22-23,.
The Parliamentary Labour Party decided to appoint Mr Jahez Wright ns the Labour candidate for the Sturt, vacancy caused by the death of Mr Brookfield (Independent Labour). A reply has been received by the butter and cheese exporters from London refusing the request for a reduction of freight.. Giving evidence at the Board of Trade inquiry, the boot manufacturers stated that, there was a*2s per cent decrease in price compared with a year ago. Adelaide, August 17.
