OBITUARY,

Footballers and others interested in athletics will regret to hear lof the death of Mr Archibald K. ("Tinv") UcMinii, sou of Mr and Mrs Alex. Mc--Vlinn. of Auckland. Deceased a few years ago was one of the best known footballers in t'lie North Island, and 011 one occasion toured Australia with a New Zealand representative team. Deceased was engaged in newspaper work in Carterton and Dannevirke for some years, but latterly had been in failing health.

An old and respected resident of .Shannon, Mr John Mitchel. of j-Eat'fc Kortd, diod a few days ago after a long and painful illness. The deceased was 'il years of age; and was born at TCarori. Ho"' had been living in Shannon for a number of years. during wliidh time he was a director of the Shannon Dairy Co. He was an elder of the- Presbyterian Church, an active member ot' the Farmers' Union from its inception, and a member of the local bowling club. The deceased gentleman, who followed farming pursuits in the Shannon district, leaves a .widow and four sons.

The death occurred on Thursday of Mrs Wotton. wife of Mr Peter Worttton, one of Paraparanmu's oldest and most respected .settlers. The late Mrs Wootton, who w.as born in Wellington, was 59 years of age. For a couple of years or so the dcceasod lived in Kanori, but over thirty years took up residence in Paraparaumu, where she did •rood work and made a wide circle of friends, being a prominent worker in local efforts, and being much loved for Ser kindly disposition and lavish hospitality. '
