Bathing Belle Competition Voting POSITIONS UNALTERED The positions of the respective candidates in the Hastings Bathing Belle competition at noon to-day remained unaltered. The positions are as follows :—

1. Boxing: Miss Ruth Connop. 2. Citizens’ Band: Miss Molly Jefferd. 3. Tennis: Miss Rae Sanders. 4. Combined Sports Clubs: Miss Zoe Fryer. The queens’ committees are continuing to demand art union tickets in increasing numbers. So great has been the demand for tickets that it is UP" parent that some silent but rapid work is being done by the supporters of the various candidates. The committees claim that they have yet to start their campaigns in earnest and it is expected that concentrated efforts will begin early next week. CITIZENS’ BAND QUEEN The committee supporting the Hastings Citizens' Band queen has been handicapped by. the absence of its candidate, Miss Molly Jefferd, who is at present in Christchurch. The committee met lasi evening and considered a well-prepared itinerary, which will be finalised during the week-end. Irom the programme outlined it is obvious that the Band Committee has no intention of being left behind at the post when the election closes. The Citizens’ Baud proposes to give Hastings residents a musical feast next week-eqd, when the band will bo at full strength working lor its candidate. It is proposed to parade a full jaza orchestra in Heretaunga street on Saturday afternoon, as the result of which Miss Jefferd's supporters are confident they can pllice her ih a leading position. BOXING QUEEN Miss Ruth Connop, who is nt present leading the “Miss Hastings” competition has further consolidated her position. Mr. D. M. Campbell, president of the Boxing Association, introduced the association’s queen to the audience prior to the bout between Joe Hall and Neville Mudgway at the Municipal Theatre last evening. Miss Connop was received with prolonged applause and a substantial number of votes were recorded. Miss Connop’s committee has thus far made the most use of its candidate at local functions and it is understood that the Boxing Association has organised a campaign which will keep interest at the highest level until the contest closes on December 18. COMBINED TENNIS QUEEN , The mixed doubles Yankee tournament advertised by the Parkvale Tennis Club to begin at 10 a.m. during the week-end promises to be one of the biggest ever held in Hastings. 'Suppoit for this tournament, it is understood, has been promised by all the Hastings Tennis Clubs. Suinptuotis morning and afternoon teas are to be provided and it remains now for the tennis enthusiasts to arrange for their partners. Miss Rae Sanders, as the selected queen of the Combined Tennis Clubs, is entering into the spirit of the election with extraordinary enthusiastm. It is understood that she and her parents already have been responsible for some hundreds of votes.

COMBINED SPORTS QUEEN The Heretaunga Swimming and LifeSaving Club proposes to devote the funds of its opening carnival of the season to the support of th 6 Combined Sports Chibs’ queen, Mis s Zoo Fryer. The carnival will be held at the Maddison Bath at 8 p.m. to-night. Competitors from Havelock North, Mahora and Napier Swimming Clubs will be participating and special novelty events are being arranged. ' : It is hoped that the dispute with regard to the Combined Sports Chibs, candidate for the “Miss Hastings competition -will be finally settled after the public have had the opportunity of expressing their opipion. In the meantime, however, there are no less than eight “belles” claiming the distinction of being the Sports Clubs’ queen.
