PICNIC FACILITIES

Gas-Rings for Cornwall Park SUGGESTION TO COUNCIL The’ provision of facilities such as gas-rings, for picnickers at Cornwall Park is recommended by the borough superintendent of reserves, Mr J. G. C. Mackenzie, , in his monthly report, 'and the Hastings Borough Council is to make arrangements for providing such visitors to the park with facilities for obtaining hot water. “The park has been particularly well patronised by the public during recent months,” said Mr Mackenzie in his report. He pointed out that a number of parties picknicked there on Show Day and Labour Day, and an increasing number of country people were also making a habit of having lunch in the park during their Saturday shopping excursions to town.

“I have received complaints from some of these parties regarding the lack of facilities for providing hot jvater, as the kiosk is seldom open except for a few hours on Sunday,” he added. “I would suggest that the installation of gas-rings be considered.” The council adopted the recommendation of the reserves committee that the question of gas-rings should be referred to the Mayor and the chairman of the committee, to interview the tenant of the tea kiosk and ascertain what arrangements could be made.
