ROAD-SEALING WORK
Tenders To Be Called
Tenders for. road-sealing work are to be called by the borough engineer, Mr C. E. Evans, as a result of the recommendation of the works committee adopted at the meeting of the Hastings Borough Council last evening. The engineer reported that the work of metalling the roads to be sealed this season was well in hand, the following roads having been metalled: Lascelles street, from Henry street to Lovedale road; Greys road, from Fitzroy Avenue to Duke street; Whitehead road, from Tomoana road to Greys road; Queen street, from Tomoana road to . Greys road; Southampton street, from Charles street to Lascelles street. It will be recalled that last year the council made a departure from its established policy of having the roads surfaced with hot-mix by its own staff and allowed the work to be done by private contract, a proposition that was considered a most favourable one.
